Decoding ELON MUSK : a Business Magnet

Elon Musk, one of the most powerful person in the world, has created many companies, worked as a CEO in few of them and he has earned profits in million dollars from each of them, in addition to this he is also known for his total number of failures.

Elon is a far sighted, futuristic and a barrier free thinker. He is a South African born Canadian-American business magnet, self made billionaire & a real life inspiration of many people.

He has deep-rooted passion & crystal clear attitude which plays a great role in helping him achieve all impossibles.

“I didn’t go into the rocket business, the car business, or the solar business thinking, ‘This is a great opportunity.’ I just thought, in order to make a difference, something needed to be done. I wanted to create something substantially better than what came before.”

– Elon Musk

From his early age his thought was: “Looking for solution is the biggest problem.” He believed that failure is an option.

Making of Elon Musk: Early Life

Elon was born in 1971 in South Africa, was never interested in school but he was a self learner.

His brother said: “he used to read for 10 hours per day, he read a lot of science fiction and eventually non-fiction too.”

When he was in 4th grade he was buried in ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA. Surprisingly, at early the age of 9 he got his hands on his first computer the COMMODORE VIC-20. His computer had a guide named “How to Programe” which was intended to take the user six months to complete but 9 year old Elon completed it in just three days.

Musk was an avid reader. At the age of 10, Elon read more books than a normal graduate person.

At 12, with his skills, he created a video game named BLASTAR, a BASIC-based video game and sold it to PC and Office Technology magazine in $500.

At 17 he left South Africa and went to Canada and few years later used college transfer to the University of Pennsylvania as a way to the US.

At US he received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Wharton school and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the College of Arts and Science. He began a Ph.D in applied physics and material sciences at Stanford University in 1995 but dropped out after two days to pursue a business career.

Work life of Elon Musk

Elon is always very passionate about his work. Whenever someone said: “it can’t be done”, Elon has gone out and made it real.

Elon designed many big companies like:

Elon is involved in all the below industries:

“It takes a lot of effort, but if you’re trying to do something new, it’s the best way to think.”

– Elon Musk

Elon is far sighted & has core inner strength to focus. When goal is hard to reach, he believes in changing strategy and not the goal. He is a paranoid person and his only focus is on creating high class products by higher order thinking.

Elon thinks humans are computers with body & brain as it’s hardware and learning, thinking, personality & habit as software. He believes learning equals downloading data and algorithm in brain.

In 1995 along with his brother he made ZIP-2 and sold it and earned $22 million which he further invested and started X.com and further made it PayPal. Due to some conflict he was pushed out of the company but till that time he had a big share in the company so got $165 million.

After this Elon wanted life on mars, for that he self-studied about rocket science & went to Russia where his project got rejected, he flew back to the US and started working on his project of made Space-X which created commercial viable & reusable rockets. His mission failed for 1st, 2nd & even 3rd trial. He lost his everything and nearly went bankrupt.

Musk Overcame Failure

He made a crazy announcement of trying it 4th time and finally got successful. NASA signed his project in worth of $1.5 Billion.

“I think fundamentally the future is vastly more exciting and interesting if we’re a space-faring civilization and a multi-planet species than if we’re or not. You want to be inspired by things. You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great. And that’s what being a space-faring civilization is all about.”

– Elon Musk

He then invested in TESLA and started many projects like eco-friendly or nature friendly cars, or electric cars precisely. His hardwork payed of and he was soon declared as CEO of Tesla.

His project of electric car first failed due to high making cost but soon he got succeeded.

Thus he always says:

“Failure is an option here. If things are not failing, you are not innovating enough.”

His Tesla Motors, whose aim is “sustainable energy consumption”, was followed by his next project Solar City, whose aim was to generate “sustainable energy creation”.

He worked for all 7 days a week for his whole life. Elon worked for 15 hrs per day as he had so much of self expectation which made him

That’s how he made himself the “21st World’s Most Powerful Person”.

“Persistence is very important. You should not give up unless you are forced to give up.”

– Elon Musk
